Enrollment numbers for this school year are down a bit at the Neosho County Community College campus in Ottawa, following the trend at most college campuses in the area. Dean for the Ottawa and online campuses, Marie Gardner says they are down about 3%. However, the number of high school students taking classes is on the rise.
She adds that when the economy is good and jobs are plentiful, like right now, student enrollment tends to dip down. When the economy is not so good, numbers go up as people are going back to school for more education and training.
