OTTAWA — More than 700 Kansas law officers will take part in the annual Torch Run fundraiser on June 2 for Special Olympics. Ottawa police lieutenant and Franklin County Torch Run coordinator Adam Weingartner says Franklin County is also taking part in the Casual for a Cause fundraiser Friday. Local officers will carry the torch from Ottawa to Beto Junction. The run is being dedicated to long-time COF former employee, Cindy Mendel, for her efforts on behalf of Special Olympics.
