WASHINGTON — Ottawa University students recently visited the U.S.S. Sequoia presidential yacht in Washington, D.C. Ottawa native Sara Humm was one of six communications students to visit the yacht; others are Danielle Jurski, Topeka; Eli Brazil and Laura Reed, Kansas City, Kan.; and Joshua Vail and Paige Gibson, both of Olathe. While on the Sequoia, the students gave a presentation for a promotion they created for the 85th anniversary celebration for the yacht that will take place next year.  The Sequoia is a 104-foot wooden motor yacht that served U.S. presidents from Herbert Hoover through Ronald Reagan.  The yacht was decommissioned by Pres. Jimmy Carter.  It was restored and is now owned by a private historic trust.  The trip to Washington was apart of the students’ Advertising Strategies Course.
