GARNETT — That long-time Garnett school tradition – Play Day – is today at Lake Garnett Park, weather permitting. The rain date is Thursday. Play Day gave Carla Skiles and her classmates at Longfellow School the chance to engage in a little friendly competition with Irving School during the 1980s. Skiles told the Anderson County Review that she and her three-legged race partner Dana McIlvain usually brought home a ribbon. Each year, Play Day brings together elementary students across USD 365 for a day of friendly competition, games and races. Lynnette Suderman, who helps organize Play Day, said it’s an event that students and school staff look forward to year after year. Many students like Skiles and Tarrie Miller come back and take part in Play Day as parents. Miller said Play Day brings back lots of happy memories.
