OTTAWA — County commissioners have rescheduled a public hearing on a controversial road closing until next Wednesday. A property owner tired of four-wheelers and illegal dumpers had asked the county to close minimum-maintenance Osborne Lane between Louisiana Terrace and Eisenhower Terrace northwest of Ottawa. However, other property owners have opposed the closing. Some live along the road and others living on Louisiana Terrace need access to Osborne Lane if trains are parked across the Louisiana Terrace. Commissioners discussed the request Monday. Commission Chairman David Hood expressed the views of most commissioners by saying that he’s wary of closing the road. Although the road is minimum-maintenance road, county crews do some work on the road because of the county residents who need the road for access to their homes.
