Thursday Osawatomie City Electric crews replaced the faulty cables at the power plant substation. On December 5, the city lost power due to these faulty lines and since then the city has been operating with only one set of cables meaning the capacity at the substation has been cut in half.

Thursday morning at 3 crews killed the power to the substation, removed the operating cables, installed a temporary bypass and then energized the substation. Following this process, the crew then spent the rest of the day removing both sets of cables, pulling in new wire and terminating the ends of the cable.

Then at 11 that night, crews killed the power again to the substation in order to remove the temporary bypass and hook up both sets of new cables. After completion, they restored power. Both power outages only lasted 1-2 hours.
