LYNDON — Weather permitting, a contractor will start work Tuesday on a new pedestrian bridge over U.S. 75 just north of the K-268 junction in Osage County, north of Lyndon. Kansas Department of Transportation’s Kimberly Qualls said a railroad bridge over U.S. 75 will be replaced by the pedestrian bridge. The abandoned railway across the bridge is being turned into a trail. Sometime this summer as the project proceeds , U.S. 75 will be closed for two three-day periods to remove the railroad bridge and to build the new pedestrian bridge, she said. KDOT will give area residents advance warning on the closings, she said.
