The driver of a semi truck that crashed into a bridge pillar near Edgerton in November has been identified. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Leobardo Perez of El Paso, Texas died when his truck hit the middle support pillar at Sunflower Road Bridge on I-35. The truck burst into flames and he was trapped in the vehicle. I-35, both North and Southbound was closed for several hours while law enforcement, fire departments, and K-DOT investigated, assessed and cleaned up the scene. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
