Franklin County is having somewhat of a disease outbreak and they are diseases people don’t really like talking about, sexually transmitted diseases. One type that has seen a huge increase is Gonorrhea. With a 60% increase over the past few years, Franklin County Health Department Director Midge Ransom is concerned. Not only with the number of new cases that are occuring, but about the drugs used to fight the disease.
She adds that anyone who thinks they may have a sexually transmitted disease needs to come to the health department for testing. Not insured and think you can’t afford it? She says the testing can be done at no cost, it’s just important to begin treatment as quickly as possible.
