OTTAWA — The shovels went in and now Neosho County Community College’s new campus will go up. City, county and college officials held a ground-breaking Wednesday evening for the new campus which will be built along K-68 in eastern Ottawa. Mayor Linda Reed thanked college president Dr. Vicky Smith for the proposal to build the new campus, which will include a mockup of a hospital to be used for the college’s nursing program. Trustees chairman David Peter called the new campus a symbol of the cooperation among the college, city and county. The city issued $5.3 million in special bonds to the college’s foundation. The foundation will build the new campus. The college has outgrown its present location at Second and Beech.
