The week is National Fire Prevention week and the Ottawa Fire Department want you to be safe in the case of a fire at your house. Captain Dennis Nowatsky says knowing how to get out of the house is the first priority.
He adds that if you are upstairs, windows can be used but having a fire ladder at the window so everyone can get down safely is a good idea.
