OTTAWA — Ottawa Youth in Government will hold the second rain barrel workshop Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 at the Ottawa High School Cyclone Room. Youth in Government director Lisa Rivers said you’ll learn why and how to create a home rain barrel. The rain barrels are one way to clean up the Marais des Cygnes River by cutting the amount of storm runoff into the river, she said. Because of a Marais des Cygnes Targeted Watershed Grant, the workshops will be free to the first 100 people who sign up, she said. The first workshop had 30 people and the second workshop has 40 openings, with 10 space still open as of this morning, she said. The last workshop will be June 26th at the high school. To sign up, call Rivers at the Ottawa Volunteer Center at 242-7450, extension 205 or e-mail [email protected].
