GARNETT — The Garnett First Christian Church Vacation Bible School is looking for donations and volunteers to help with food for Haiti. Charlotte Lutz, Vacation Bible School director, told the Anderson County Review that she had heard that several people in the area had helped with a project at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City packaging one million meals for Haiti. She said that after talking with Pastor Tony Thornton and Youth Pastor Chris Goetz, they set the goal of packaging 50,000 meals for Haiti. The food packaging event will take place at the Garnett armory on July 10, starting at 9 a.m. The church’s VBS kids want to raise $15,000 to buy the food for the 50,000 meals. They’re also looking for 250 community volunteers for the food packaging event.
