OTTAWA — The filing deadline passed at noon with no new candidates for the Franklin County Commission. As it stands, it will be a packed primary day for Republicans. In the 1st district, Commissioner Due Garrell is being challenged by three Republicans – Katy Boothe, Ron DePriest and Colton Waymire. In the 4th District, Commissioner Don Hay is being challenged by two other Republicans – Mark Evans and Steve Harris. In the 5th District, Commissioner Don Stottlemire is being challenged by Norman Wooge for the Republican nomination. The 5th includes the only Democrat to file – Terry Johnson.
