Looking back in the year 2019, you know that weather played a very important role in many areas. From the constant pounding the county roads took from the heavy rains and flooding to the cancellation of major events. Heavy rains and thunderstorms caused the cancellation of events like the Garnett Cornstock Outdoor concert and the postponement of the Garnett Lions Club fundraising motorcycle ride, as well as damaging lakeside camping areas and drainage channels. And don’t forget Anderson County Farmers. Mud hampered both planting and harvesting as many low lying fields were underwater as many as 8 times throughout the year. The damage done to the counties nearly 1000 miles of roads will take many more months to repair. But Anderson County wasn’t alone, all the surrounding counties are dealing with the aftermath also. Anderson County picked up over 52 inches of precipitation, nearly a foot above average.
