We have heard a lot about workforce development in our area and with the completion of Proximity Park coming soon, companies that choose to build here are going to want a strong workforce. Recently, USD 290 Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs and several other area superintendents met with Franklin County Development Council President Paul Bean to talk about this issue. Ottawa High School has a good number of graduates every year that could move into the workforce, but not nearly enough. Cobbs says there is a plan for districts to come together to develop more workers.
He and representatives from 11 other area districts are meeting soon with local industry leaders to see what types of skills they need from new workers.
