The first week of the new Kansas Legislative Session has passed and many Kansas lawmakers believe they will be forced to address the issue of medical marijuana. A House committee has committed itself to review the matter and had an informal meeting last week. Representative Blaine Finch of Ottawa says he wishes the federal government would allow true research studies to be done.
Legislators in both parties say that they’re being forced to consider the issue more seriously because conservative neighbors Missouri and Oklahoma legalized the medical use of marijuana recently. Governor Laura Kelly says she would sign the bill if passed.
