TOPEKA — Garnett Democrat Bill Feuerborn may have a free pass back into the Kansas Legislature. There are no challengers against him unless an independent files. Feuerborn represents southern Ottawa and Franklin County, Osawatomie and Garnett. The state representative for northern Ottawa, Baldwin City Democrat Tony Brown, will have a Republican challenger. Two Republicans have filed to challenge Brown – they are Terri Gregory of Baldwin City and Scott Barnhart of Ottawa. The often controversial Bill Otto of Leroy will have a challenger in the Republican primary and that’s Bud Sifers of Iola. No Democrat filed. One Democrat filed to challenge Republican legislator Willie Prescott of Osage City. Blossom Barth is from Vassar. In Linn and Bourbon counties, Democratic legislator Shirley Palmer of Fort Scott will have a Republican challenger. One of them will one of two women from the Parker area seeking the GOP nomination, Caryn Tyson and Renee Slinkard. Louisburg Republican Jene Vickery will also have a free pass. He represents most of Miami County.
