OSAWATOMIE — Miami County is celebrating the opening of the John Brown Highway and Pressonville Road intersection west of Osawatomie a month ahead of schedule. The Osawatomie Journal reports that the county began planning to rebuild the intersection five years ago after a traffic accident killed Osawatomie High Shool student Rachel Dalton. The project involved eliminating the hill on John Brown Road that made it a blind intersection. A quarter-cent sales tax was used to pay for the project.
