The Wichita Police Department has received several reports of a scam where suspects are impersonating police officers. In these cases, the victims correspond with whom they believe are females on a dating app, then set up a meeting time.
The male suspects, pretending to be police officers and the female’s father, will call the victim telling them the woman is underage and they need to send the money to stop from being arrested. The Wichita police and other law enforcement agencies want people to know that no law officer will ever call anyone demanding money, and these call are all scams.
