OTTAWA — During this week’s meeting, the Ottawa school board tweaked its new get-tough policy on absences. The new policy originally gave students up to five absences before they expelled. Because Ottawa schools are dropping block scheduling this fall, Supt. Dean Katt said the board had to change the policy to 10 absences, which under the new calendar matches the original five-day rule.
