OTTAWA — Joanne Fluke of Ottawa is an all-star but you can help her be a national all-star. Fluke is one of three nominees for the Kansas City Royals as part of a national every-day all-star campaign. Fluke, co-creator of Groovability. which pairs disabled dancers with non-disabled dancers; came to the attention of Royals officials and she was nominated. The top vote-getter for each ball club gets a trip to this year’s Major League Baseball All-Star game in Anaheim, Calif. Other nominees are Marcia Merrick who feeds the hungry and homeless in Kansas City, and Kate Quigley, who is founder of the pet rescue group Chain of Hope. You can vote for Fluke by going on-line to the Web site www.peopleallstars.com and clicking on the Kansas City Royals button. You can vote as many times as you like. The deadline is Sunday midnight. The national winner and his or her group will be featured in People’s magazine.
