There’s been a lot of attention directed toward property tax in Kansas and how it is collected. The Kansas Legislature is trying to come up with a way to shield property owners from what seems like ever increasing property tax. One bill being talked about right now is senate bill 295. It would seek to protect property owners from facing an increase in taxes for doing general maintenance on the home. Senator Caryn Tyson says things like painting and putting on a new roof should not increase the value of your home for tax purposes.

Tyson sits down with KOFO’s Dave Edwards and talks about everything you want to know about property taxes in Kansas and how the legislature is trying to east the pain of Kansas home owners. Tune in for community perspective tomorrow morning at 8:04 to hear the full conversation.
