TOPEKA–Although the Kansas jobless rate stayed at 6.3% in April and May, the local economy actually got a little worse. The Kansas Department of Labor says Franklin County had 8.8% unemployment in May, up from 7.8% in April. Anderson County had 7.4%, up slightly from 7.2% the previous month. Linn County’s unemployment jumped to 9.4%, up from 8.5%. Miami County had 7.2%, up from 6.5% in April. And finally, Osage County had 7.4%, down slightly from 7.5% the previous month.
