Does the City of Garnett need a designated City Engineer? That’s the question before the Garnett City Commissioners. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager, Chris Weiner, brought in a representative from BG Consultants to find out more about the benefits of having their services. Mayor Bridgette Brecheisen Huss asked what the difference would be of the City’s designated Engineer compared to just calling the company if they needed something. BG Consulting Representative, Jason Hotchkinson, says there are benefits:
He added that there is not a retainer fee to have BG as a partner.
Weiner noted that the City has a good relationship with the firm and has done significant work with them in the past and would be involved in the design work of the upcoming Maple Street Project. The Commission put off a final decision of designating BG Consultants until a future meeting.
