The USD 290 School Board has gone ahead with a plan to upgrade the football field and soccer field at Ottawa High with artificial turf. The Board approved a request for proposal for companies to bid on the project. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs, says with turf fields, both facilities can be utilized far more than they are now:
Ottawa is the only school in the Frontier League that still plays on grass fields. Cobbs says they hope to make a decision on which company to use at the March 9th meeting, and he hopes the project can be completed in time for the Fall sports season next school year.
