The Ottawa Recreation Commission suspended all Senior Program operations as of yesterday, and will remain suspended until March 30th as a precaution against covid-19. This includes suspension of the following activities: path, tops, pickleball, chair yoga, and tai chi.
At this time, the Goppert Building and Orlis Cox Sports Complex will remain open and activities will be monitored on a case-by-case basis.
There are no known cases of covid-19 in Ottawa at this time, however, several State and National agencies and officials, including the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Governor Laura Kelly, have urged those who are at elevated risk for covid-19 complications to curtail their activities and limit their contact with others.
The ORC will continue to be in contact with local emergency management and health officials as they monitor the situation. They will reassess their Senior Program operations and make an announcement on resuming senior activities by March 30th.
