Anderson County Hospital and Garnett City Officials held a ribbon cutting recently for the hospital’s Senior Life Solutions, an intensive outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of older adults struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety, often related to aging.
They are working to raise awareness of the connection between heart health and emotional health, helping patients over the age of 65 deal with the particular mental and emotional strains that come with getting older. The local program assists older adults who have experienced a traumatic event and a host of many other symptoms.
Saint Luke’s communications specialist Kristin Dittmar says the goal is to help patients discover how to handle the challenges and find joy again by improving the emotional stability. Patients will also identify, develop and increase effective coping skills through their family.
The program staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed social workers, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to the emotional well being of the seniors in the Garnett Community.
