Just last week Ottawa University announced it had no plans to cancel classes due to the covid 19 issue.  However, Campus President Dr. Reggies Wenyika, says that with a presumptive case of the virus discovered in Franklin County, all that has changed.  The University has moved to Level 2 of their preparedness plan, which means that all campus instruction will be moved to a “distant education format”.  What does that mean for the local campus?  The University is on Spring Break this week.  Following the return of students, all dormitories and dining services will remain open, and many classes will be taught via conference calls with some offerings online.

Many students have chosen to spend Spring Break on campus.  Those returning to campus next week, will have to go through some required screening to provide one more level of assurance against the potential spread or exposure to the virus.  The screening procedures have not been announced, but in a media release, the University says the details will be released in the coming days.  In the meantime, they encourage everyone to focus on preventative measure recommended by health organizations.
