POMONA–There’s been another flareup between Pomona Mayor Joann Hancock and other council members. The dispute started Thursday when Hancock says she and council member Marie Seneca agreed that a resident should be given more time to pay his electric bill, especially considering he has a child on a respirator. The man got his electricity cut off anyway. Hancock says she went down to City Hall to see what the problem was, and she was told she…the Mayor…could not authorize extensions of time. Then Friday morning, Hancock went over to Marie Seneca’s house to discuss the matter, but Seneca refused to open her door. Instead, a sheriff’s officer was called to the scene. When asked to respond to Hancock’s statements, Marie Seneca said she….Seneca….is the utilities hearings officer, and any requests for time extensions are to be kept confidential. She says that Hancock has violated this confidentiality rule, and that’s one reason she wouldn’t answer her door to Hancock.
