At a special board meeting last night, USD 290 board members and top school officials tried to hash out a plan for continued learning for Ottawa students for the rest of the school year that has been flipped upside down by the coronavirus pandemic and Governor Kelly’s order to close all school buildings. While there are still a lot of details to work out, there are great concerns about children with special needs or at risk that need one-on-one interaction between students, teachers and different types of therapists. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs says small groups of less than 10 may be the way to go.
District teachers and staff are continuing to work out details of what the school year will look like from this point forward. More details will be released next week.
