When the local Franklin County Stay At Home Order went into affect, the Ottawa Police Department noticed a drastic reduction in the number of property crimes. Than lasted about a week. After the Statewide order took affect, things changed. Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, says they have seen an increase in police activity almost every day, particularly thefts from unlocked vehicles:
The Ottawa Police Department made a series of Social Media Posts this weekend emphasizing the need for people in a certain area to lock cars and houses, shut garage doors, and more. That specific area: between the north and south city limits and the east and west city limits, in other words, IF YOU LIVE IN OTTAWA, LOCK YOUR CARS AND HOUSES.
