Rain or the threat of rain has cancelled or postponed many Fourth of July events over the last two days.  Events started falling by the wayside Sunday morning when the decision was made to postpone the 2nd Annual “Glorious Fourth” event sponsored by the Franklin County Historical Society at Dietrich Cabin in City Park.  The event was rescheduled for Monday morning at 8:00 before being cancelled altogether because of rain.  The Ottawa City Band was trying to get their concert in by starting early at 7:30 Sunday night in Forest Park, but just as Director Courtney Williams raised her baton the heavens opened up before one note could be played.  The concert won’t be rescheduled.  The Ottawa Jaycees Fireworks display was postponed to Monday.  The Jaycees’ Rex Carswell says if it’s not raining by 7:00 Monday night the display will go off.  But they may need to move the launching location to Orlis Cox Complex.  If rains wash things out tonight, Friday will be the next preferred night to set off the public display.  The Garnett Liberty Fest Celebration has been postponed until this Saturday night at Garnett’s North Lake Park.  Posted 07/05/10 10:18am Updated 11:34am
