GARNETT — Anderson County appraiser Gary Stapp will leave his position to become the Lyon County appraiser. Stapp has been Anderson County’s appraiser for 17 years. He started in the Anderson County office as a part-time field appraiser. Stapp said he has no immediate plans to leave Garnett and plans to make the 70-mile commute to Emporia for the time being. He has written several plays and he said he intends to remain a member of the Chamber Players Community Theater of Garnett.
