OTTAWA — It’s cars and political stars Friday evening. The Franklin County Tea Party will have a cruise-in car event in front of the former Goody’s store, 2204 S. Main Friday night from 7 to 9:30. The party will have a text-in beginning at 4, said organizer Brad Heathman. Any street rod, hot rod and classic vehicle is welcome, he said. The event will also highlight the party’s endorsements of candidates who pledge to spend less. Among the endorsements — Republican Bud Sifers, Iola, who is challenging 9th District legislator Bill Otto, Republican from Leroy; Terri-Lois Gregory, Baldwin City, who is contesting Scott Barnhart, Ottawa, for Republican nomination and the right to challenge Democratic 10th District legislator Tony Brown, Baldwin City; Republican Katie Boothe, who with Ron DePriest and Colton Waymire, is challenging Republican County Commissioner Sue Farrell;
and County Commissioner Don Hay, who is being challenged by two other Republicans, Ottawa business owner Mark Evans and Wal-Mart Distribution Center executive Steve Harris.
