OTTAWA — Funeral mass for 22-year-old Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Smith will be Friday morning at 10 at at Ottawa University Chapel. Inurnment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa. Smith was killed in a traffic accident late Friday near Williamsburg while he was responding to a domestic disturbance call. Because Smith died in the line of duty, there will be many officers from multiple jurisdictions who will attend the service to pay their respects, said Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Curry. He said that if you plan to attend the service, be aware of that and if you are able to carpool, you plan to do so. Rosary will be said Thursday evening at 6:30 followed by family visitation at 7 at Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through [email protected].
