TOPEKA – Lt. Gov. Troy Findley has submitted a request for a federal disaster declaration for Franklin county and 76 other counties for a series of storms that caused severe flooding last month. The request asks for federal reimbursement for the counties’ costs in removing debris and repairing roads, bridges and utilities. The state estimates the storms caused $12 million in damage across the state. The declaration also includes Anderson, Miami, Osage, Coffey, Couglas and Linn counties. Findley submitted the request because Gov. Mark Parkinson is courting aircraft manufacturers at the Farnborough International Air Show in England.
