OTTAWA — ECKAN’s Ottawa Youth Action Council and Ottawa Youth in Government members will be recognized tonight at a banquet tonight at 6:30 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Ottawa Volunteer Center director Lisa Rivers said five members will receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award for volunteering at least 100 hours in a 12-month period. The Youth Action Council is open to all teens through 6th through 12th grades who plan and do community service projects. Meetings are the second and fourth Monday evenings at 6:30 at ECKAN’s central office. Youth in Government is open to all local teens from 8th to 12th grades and is designed to give youth hands-on experience with local government.
