A lot of people may not have known C. D. Shulte, but the Garnett Community benefited tremendously from the work he did over the years. His promotion of economical development in the area was unmatched. Schulte literally built portions of Garnett from the ground up, by developing residential housing neighborhoods in Garnett in the early 1970’s. He played a roll in numerous real estate deals and other business ventures in Garnett and served as a special ambassador for the county’s first Economic Development Agency, developed in 1988. His love for the game of golf led him to promote development to the Garnett Country Club Golf Course, promoting tournaments to raise funds for the course. He was also the Superintendent of the course for 20 years.

Many knew him as a real estate agent and an insurance agent in the area. His family described him as a serial entrepreneur, having his hand in a little bit of everything in the area.

Schulte passed away, at the age of 86, in late August and services for him were held for him last Friday.
