Even though Franklin County reported 13 new cases of COVID on Wednesday, the overall percentage of positives, versus the number of tests, has dropped significantly since the pandemic began in March. That month saw over 11% of the tests came back positive. That number dropped in April, May and June, before spiking back in July to just over 7%. Since then, the positive percent has dropped to 4 1/2% for an overall total of 5.43%. New numbers will be released this afternoon. As of Wednesday, Franklin County had a total of 281 positive cases since the pandemic began in March. Of those, 262 have recovered, leaving 2 active cases.

The State of Kansas has an overall positive rate of about 12%. State and Local Officials continue to emphasize the importance of wearing a mask to help mitigate the spread of the virus.
