OTTAWA — At a time when Ottawa schools are trying to cut every penny, Ottawa school Supt. Dean Katt said he’s getting a lot of help from a state cooperative program for schools called e-rate. E-rate offers hefty discounts to schools for their Internet and wireless programs. E-rate gives Ottawa schools savings of about $125,000, Katt said. The program is offered by a cooperative that includes the Kansas Education Department and the Kansas State Library.
