OTTAWA — Beginning Thursday, the Ottawa police will crack down on traffic violations. The crackdown is part of a statewide effort to watch for impaired drivers and other violators, Lt. Adam Weingartner said. The campaign will continue Labor Day, which is Sept. 6, he said. The extra time for officers is being paid by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation. If you see suspicious driving behavior, take note of the location and direction, and the vehicle description and call 911.
