OTTAWA — Franklin County commissioners may go high-tech. Commissioners are considering a proposal that would allow citizens to get any public information about real estate and appraisals from the Web. The county’s Internet consultant Sonny Sahger, of Manatron, said citizens could get maps, appraisals and other information with the click of a button. It’s convenient for citizens and it’s more efficient for front-desk county employees, he said. The county could also set up a per-pay web service with more detailed information for appraisers, title companies, surveyors and attorneys, he said. Commissioner Ed Taylor said he’s wanted to see a more high-powered Web presence for real estate information. The $22,000 setup cost would be paid out of a special county fund that comes from a state fee on financial instruments and mortgages, Sahger said.
