TOPEKA — This year’s corn crop could be a new record for Kansas. The Kansas Agricultural Statistics said the state corn crop could increase by five percent over last year, which set a new record. The agency said the number of acres are up 14 percent from last year and predicted . that the state average yield could be 143 bushels per acre. Corn is the number-two cash crop in Franklin County.
