OTTAWA — Two faulty fuses darkened parts of the jail and caused the county’s 911 system to crash for about five minutes shortly before noon Wednesday. After the fuses blew and before the problem could be found, the system ran on emergency power backups until batteries ran out of power, triggering the shutdown, said county 911 director Brad Gilges. The problem was fixed and the 911 system is now running, he said. Gilges said it’s first time the system crashed in the 20 years he’s been working in the county’s emergency dispatch center.
