Prices in the Midwest Region, as measured by the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers, rose two tenths of a percent in September, according to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The September increase was most influenced by higher prices for all items except food and energy.
Over the last 12 months, the Consumer Price Index rose 1.3%. The Index for all items minus food and energy increased 1.9%. Energy prices declined 8.5%, largely the result of a decrease in the price of gasoline.
