A dispute with Baldwin City and an eviction form, the Depot there has led the Midland Railway to consider moving to the Ottawa area. That eviction came after negotiations to transfer the lease of the Old Depot in Baldwin to Midland failed. Midland is under the parent company, called Baldwin City & Southern Railway. Officials from the Company says they own property outside of Ottawa and plan to move there. Franklin County Economic Development Director, Paul Bean, says he has heard the rumblings:
Midland operates excursion train rides on vintage railroad equipment between Baldwin City and a rural area near Ottawa. It also provides service for the Kansas Belle Dinner Train Company, and it occasionally hosts other themed events, like the Thomas the Train, or Polar Express themed rides and Halloween Haunted Train Rides.
