A major developer in Ottawa may have fired what you could call a warning shot across the bow of City Planners. The Ottaa Planning Commission has approved vacating several feet of a Platted Utility Easement of a location at 35 Westwood Circle. The action clears the way for the possible construction of a new home. Kyle Thurman of Heartland Design Build is the developer. He says the matter has been pending for about six weeks and the red tape to too much:
Several members of the Planning Commission emphasized they have to abide by the legal procedure they are tasked with, but also expressed understanding of Thurman’s complaint. The Commission may consider ways of streamlining the process in future meetings. Changes would have to be approved by the City Attorney and the City Commission.
