Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, who is in the midst of a major pipeline replacement project between Ottawa and Welda, has filed a motion to completely abandon the old pipeline, leaving it in place rather than removing it. The two pipelines are located between the Welda and Ottawa Compressor Stations in Anderson and Franklin Counties. Southern Star says they are contacting landowners in the area of the proposal. The $145 million project was originally expected to take two years and pump nearly $5 million into the area economy.

The original Proposal did include abandoning about five miles of pipeline and removing the other 26 miles along the line.
