LYNDON — Two Russell women were killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 south of Lyndon Friday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Richard Basinger, 76, Lyndon, was driving north on U.S. 75 near the K-31 junction, about six miles south of Lyndon, when he crossed the center line and hit a car head-on. The car’s driver, Joyce Miller, 66, Russell; and a passenger, Carol Miller, 70, Russell; were killed. Basinger was injured. A passenger in Miller’s car, Delores Keenan, 76, Russell; was injured and taken to Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka. Troopers said they don’t know why Basinger crossed into Miller’s lane. U.S. 75 was closed nearly four hours.
